Question We are interested in breeding our Pug. We live in the Orlando, Florida area. We never done this before and want to make sure we do it correctly with the right female pug. Do we place an ad in the paper? Do we contact pet stores in the area? Can you please direct us?
Answer My first question is why do you want to stud out your dog? If you go online to petfinders.com, you will find hundreds of pugs and other homeless breeds needing a home.
Now to answer your question...a reputable breeder will only breed to a champion. Just having AKC papers is virutally worthless. You will want to make sure your pug has no gentic issues such as bad knees, hips, allergies, eye problems, demodectic mange or other health problems. You don't want to pass any of these health conditions on to the puppies.
Then I suppose you could contact veterinary offices to see if they know of anyone wanting to breed their bitch.
