Question I recently purchased an 8 week old pug puppy. I want to in the future, stud him out. I haven't any experience in this so I hope I am wording it right. He is adorable, funny, and in two days, he is already the love of our life!
Answer Congratulations on the new furbaby. Pugs seem to worm their way into your heart faster then greased lightening. They are such a delight.
The first thing you need to do is make sure he has no inheritable conditions such as allergies, eye problems, luxating patellas and hip diplasia just to name a very few.
Reputable breeders will only breed to show Champions. Very few pugs are of that quality.
Please keep in mind that an intact male is more susceptible to testicular cancer, male aggression, roaming and will mark everything insight including furniture, your bed and anything else he can sidle up to.
Not all boys should help make babies. A neutered male is a much better pet.
But if you do decide to stud out your pug, you would simply have to find someone with a female who wants to breed their pug. Most breeders already have stud dogs.
