punk rock is a form of music in the style known as rock and roll. The beginnings
of punk rock are in American groups of the 1950's and 1960's (the Kingsmen, the
Velvet Underground, The Stooges), but it wasn't until the 1070's that it began to get the
name punk rock, with New York bands like Television and the Ramones, and British
bands like the Sex Pistols.
The sound is very basic simple rock, loud, with two guitars and bass and drums and a singer. (many bands copied the Ramones and the Stooges), but also bands did new things
(Television, Suicide,)
