About KiwiPaul
Expertise
I can answer most questions on the burgeoning punk bands of the 70`s and 80`s, particularly British bands. Trivia, song lyrics, chord structures, history, record labels etc. Particular strengths include knowledge of the Sex Pistols, Clash, Stranglers, Buzzcocks and anything from this era including line ups.

Experience
A mis-spent youth at the age of 14 in 1976 turned me on to punk. I have never listened to anything else since. I also played lead guitar and vocals in bands for 20 years in the UK including The Void, China Street et al.

Awards and Honors
No 57 in the UK chart in 1978 with China Street, "You're a ruin"

Question
Hello.

I recently recieved a tape from my sister who had moved to the UK.  The tape was titled Jilted Johns True Love Stories.

What can you tell me about him?  Is he still recording?  Any other albums?

Any help would be great.

Answer
Hi Chuck,
Jilted John rose to fame in 1978 with his single "Jilted John" and became a one hit wonder. The album was entitled Jilted John True Love Stories, which you have a copy of.
His real name is Graham Fellows and he hails from Lancashire in the UK. His dream was to star in Coronation Street and this he did after his single became a hit. (he had a small part in the series).
I believe he still records/acts under the name of John Shuttleworth as a comedy/avant garde performer. There will possibly be a John Shuttleworth website if you use a search engine.
PS He was a student at Manchester University when he had the single out and subsequently his part in Coronation Street was as Gail Potters boyfriend.
Regardz
(I think it was and still is the best new-wave/punk single ever penned)
