I do not claim to be an absolute authority in any language, but I don't mind looking things up and learning with you.

Qbasic, Quickbasic - "printscreen" from Quick Basic

Expert: Alex Barry - 5/29/2009

Question
I have a laptop with XP. At one time -- I think on an old Win98 system computer -- I used to put Quick Basic (Dos, of course) generated graphics onto the clipboard using the "Printscreen" key, but this doesn't work with my present machine. I wonder, Alex, if you know of a way I could do this?

Answer
Hi, again,

As far as I knew, the print screen function was working with qbasic in windows xp.  I just grabbed a copy of qb45 for my windows xp computer, and I do seem to have the same problem.

I've been searching the internet for that, and I can't seem to find anything that will directly help you.

You may find this post helpful: http://www.petesqbsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2850
(the program mentioned can be downloaded here: http://www.qbasicstation.com/index.php?c=p_member&downloadid=437 )

It's about taking the screen drawing and saving it as a bmp - it may take some work to make it useful to you, but hopefully it's a start

I hope that helps you out a little bit,
-Alex
