Question Hi David. I'm English and once lived in Virginia in the mid 80's. I had a friend from a Quaker family. The father was very interested in Oliver Cromwell and had lots of little portraits of him. I've always been curious as to why a Quaker would admire Oliver Cromwell. Could you shed some light? And yes, I'm SURE they were Quakers.
Answer Eleanor, Thank you for your question.
Sorry, don't know the answer. I'm only an "expert" on Quakerism today, not on its history.
I suggest that you do some Web searching, and look in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org). This sounds like the sort of thing you could find pretty easily.
I hope this brief answer has helped. Please feel free to submit followup questions, if needed.
