Quakers/Quakers - a denomination or sect?

Question
Are Quakers today classified as a denomination or a sect?

Answer
The difference between "sect" and "denomination" is just that people seem to use the former as a term of abuse.   So I would say that people who didn't like Quakers would call us a "sect" while those who thought we were OK would call us a denomination.
