About Richard B. Miller
Expertise
I am primarily interested in answering questions about Quakerism today. I can answer some historical questions but I am not a history expert.

Experience
I have been active in North Carolina Yearly Meeting (conservative) for over twenty years. I have served the Yearly Meeting in a number of capacities and currently am the clerk of my small monthly meeting. I am also a recorded elder.

Subject: being a quaker

Question
can a person be a quaker without being an activist.
are there passive quakers. or are all quakers out to change the world for the better.

Answer
I suppose the stereotype of the modern Quaker is of someone who is always standing out in front of the Whitehouse demonstrating against the war.  Quakers do oppose war and support equality and justice but being politically active is certainly not high on everyone's agenda.  Most Quakers do not devote a great deal of time to politics.  For most of us it is an afterthought.
