Subject: Printing from Quark to a Cannon inkjet

Question
Hi Mehdi,

I just purchased a new Cannon inkjet  ipf5100.  I used to have an old laser Phaser printer but it died on me so I thought I would try a wide format injet printer.  They installed it today but we are having trouble printing from Quark.  I seem to be getting the same problems that  the other person wrote you about here: "images / photos distorting in quark".  When I go to OPI it's grayed out... I can't click on anything.  The tech who installed my printer mentioned something about the printer not having Postscript capabilities.  Could that be the problem?  The fonts are printing properly but the graphics that have been imported from Photoshop and Illustrator are looking pixelated - very much like the display I have on my screen of the images.  Is there any way to make  this printer Postscript compatable?  This is a brand new printer that just came out for graphics applications.  I have a hard time believing that I couldn't print properly in Quark on this machine!

Answer
bonnie the printer you bought is an inkjet and it does not have a ps driver and there can't be one added i recommend making PDf from your work and then printing it to your printer. but printing from quark to any printer with right settings will print high res files. there is probably an option you are overlooking in quark print box.
hope this helps
thank you
