Subject: Photo Resolution Too Low in PDF

Question
Hi. Our newsletter layout person uses Quark 3 on a Mac, and is having trouble generating PDFs with the imported bitmaps at print-quality resolution. They appear to be at 72 DPI. Where in the program are the settings to put the images at 600 DPI? I'm not a Mac nor a Quark user, so I can't tell her where to look to find that setting. Thanks much.

Answer
Hi,

I am sorry to inform you that you can't create 600dpi images from 72dpi images. If the images are low quality there is nothing you can do. You will have to reshoot the images, or rescan them at a higher quality if you wish to use them at high quality.

On a sidenote, you should not need 600dpi, 300dpi should be sufficient.
