Question
Hello
I've been using Quark for nearly 20 years now, and sadly i'm finally making
the switch to QX7 from 4.1.1 - which was near enough perfect for me.

I'm finding that when i use 'specialist' typefaces, eg., Monotype Centaur
Expert, and Monotype Baskerville Expert, i cannot now get the same required
letter/number. Option+Shift+2 using these expert sets would give me a
'true' superscript or footnote reference 2. What i get now is either a slash or a
smaller 2 but not superior. The other oddity seems to be that in QX4 'forcing'
type into italic, Command+Shift+I, would show the true italic - and this
would embed itself - i never had any problems outputting files, whether type
was in LI FrutigerItalic Plain, or italicised Frutiger LIght - it gave teh correct
result. Always.

I am using Suitcase Fusion, as i think i have to now on the IntelMac.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Answer
Isambard,

Congrats on being upgraded. You may want to upgrade to Quark 8 when it comes out next month.
First, make sure you are running the latest version of Quark which is 7.3.1. You can download the update from their website.

In regards to your font question, I think that it might not be a Quark problem, but a font problem. If you are using a really old expert font (like a old postscript font) you may need to upgrade that font to an opentype font. Conversely, you can try using the qlyph panel and manually choosing the glyph.

If you update to professional opentype fonts you will have access to all of your old expert numbers in the same font as your regular typeface in addition to other new features.

Fritz
