Quark (Mac, not DS9) - saving back

Expert: James Fritz - 9/22/2009

Question
A client is using Q7.0. My system has 6.5. They will save back for me, but I am wondering what glitches I might anticipate. This is a huge, complex book with extensive revisions coming to me, reflow etc would cause additional time spent that we don’t have in the schedule. They have not used libraries or any extensions.

Answer
Sonya,

The only issues to worry about are if your client is using any 7.0 only features. These generally include opentype fonts and transparency. If they are using either of these you may experience problems.

For the record, you are using a very old version of Quark. 6.0 came out in 2003. I would recommend that you seriously consider upgrading to Quark 8.0 or switching to InDesign. There are some outstanding bugs with Quark 6 and you will run in to issues at some point in the future.
