Question
Hi, I'm trying to find the name of a movie... I'm pretty sure it was made in the 90s.  It's American.  The main actor has blonde hair and is in quite a few things.  It was one of those day time movies.  I think he's a writer of some sort (maybe a script writer) and he drives into a town.  His car breaks down and he goes into a cafe for coffee.  The mechanic says it'll take a while to fix.  Meanwhile a public phone rings and he answers it.  The man on the other end knows his name.  Basically, he can't leave the town.  He tried but things kept happening to prevent him.  He finally accepts his fate.  One day while he's in the cafe another guy comes to town and his car breaks down.  He talks generally to the guy about how he'll love the town then hands him a napkin.  When the guy goes outside he reads the napkin and it says "Don't answer the phone".  Then the phone rings and he looks back at the guy in the cafe, then answers it.  The guy on the other end knows his name and that's the end of the movie.  Anyone know it??

Answer
Hi Sands, it sounds like you are describing the tv movie "Black River", based on a Dean Koontz novel of the same name.

"A writer visits a town that isn't what it appears to be."

I hope this has helped, Cheers!
