Question I am looking for a movie I saw many years ago about a young girl who writes (morale booster) letters using her older sisters name, to a soldier during WW2...it backfires when he comes home after the war to look her up...it was a comedy, and I think the young girl may have been Shirley Temple..would you by any chance know the title of this movie? If not please ask around...I would love to see it again...thanks so much
Answer Hi Trina, the movie you are looking for is called "Dear Ruth".
"A normal day in the Wilkins family: reticent beauty Ruth, crusty judge father, petition-happy political activist teen Miriam. Who should show up but Ruth's soldier pen pal Bill Seacroft...whom she doesn't know about. It seems Miriam used her sister's name and picture to build up wartime morale. Ruth reluctantly agrees to "humor" Bill for his 2-day leave, though she's just become engaged to her stuffy suitor Albert. Can Miriam's cloud castle last the weekend without crashing to earth?"
