Questions about Movies/80's movie

Question
There are a few movies from the 80's that I saw as a child.  One movie involves a teenage (15 or so)girl dressing up as a boy in order to get into a band.  She ends up playing keyboard in the band after they found out she was a girl.  I think one of her friends ends up playing guitar in the band also.  The movie ends with them playing on a stage outside I believe.  There is also another movie that it somewhat fantasy like that takes place in the winter.  There is a snowman involved.  this is all I can remember.  It's driving me crazy.  Also, there is a movie involving a escaped convict that is dressed up as santa claus and hitches a ride on a train.  ugh..  After reading from the questions on this site, one more image was sparked in my mind from a movie which involves a an exchange student from korea, china, or japan being taken in by an american family.  I totally understand if you can't help me out since I am being very vague.  All of the movies are from the 80's I believe.  I have started a movie collection that involves all of the movies I adored as a child/teenager.

Answer
The only one I can try to identify from what you told me is possibly "Jack Frost," where the ghost of a dead father takes over a snowman?  Could that be it?

If you think of any more details about the others, let me know!

Experience

I am the movie critic for Beliefnet and radio stations across the country. I have written about movies for USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun Times, Parents, Family Fun, Child, Slate, and Daughters. I am the weekly movie critic for radio stations across the US and in Canada and write weekly parental advisories for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Kansas City Star. I have appeared on Fox Morning News, the ABC Evening News, CBS This Morning, and NPR, and been profiled in the NY Times, Washingtonian, Chicago Magazine, and the Chicago Tribune. My book, The Movie Mom's Guide to Family Movies, was published by Avon in April 1999 and is now in its second edition. I can answer questions about movies for special interests, especially family concerns, handling questions from kids like "What do I do when he says everyone else has seen it?" to "My daughter got nightmares from a movie --how can I help her?" or "Why does my child want to see the DVD over and over?" to "What's the deal with Pokemon?" I am pretty good with trivia questions about movies, too, not as good with made-for-TV movies or miniseries. And I don't know much about horror/slasher films, sorry.
