I'm teaching a class about the Southwest. I want to show a movie
that is entertaining yet adequately portrays the Southwest. We
showed a Tony Hillerman movie last year. Do you have any
suggestions?

Sorry abou the delay in answering.  What a great question. However, it's a little broad in scope. Do you mean the present Southwest or somewhere back in history?

I believe Hillerman does those indian movies. Are you looking for more stuff about the indians or something else.

In any case, something tells me to make a crazy recommendation. This movie takes place in the Southwest although it starts in Los Angeles (part of the SW). I love this movie and hope you do too (if you haven't already seen it). Give it a chance.  The movie....'GRAND CANYON"  made in the early 90's and stars Kevin Kline and Danny Glover.
