AboutBrad Lang Expertise I can usually find the answers to most factual questions regarding stars and films from the 1970s and earlier, or tell you where to look. I'm not going to be able to help you with more recent films, and especially with made-for-TV movies from the 90s and later.

Question Towards the end of 2000 or the beginning of 2001, I saw a movie at the theaters but cannot remember the name. It had to do with mountain climbing in very cold weather. In the beginning the son had to cut the lower rope in which the father was on in order for both he and his sister to survive because they were about to fall off the side of the mountain. The son does cut the rope and the father dies, and towards the end of the movie he or she was faced with the same decision. I don't remember the name, but it sounded something like high vertex, or velocity or something close to that. But I can't be sure. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Answer Sorry, but that doesn't sound familiar to me. The only film I could find in a search of the Internet Movie Database that sounded similar was Touching the Void, but that was from 2003. If you want to search the IMDb yourself, go to http://www.imdb.com/search and use the Word Search drop-down box to search Plots using as few keywords as possible (ie., mountain climbing rope). You can also try searching for titles with words you think might have been in the title. It's a very useful site.
