About Steve Donald Expertise Movie Special Effects, particularly animatronics. I worked for Jim Hensons Creature Shop as an animatronics designer, and worked on movies such as LABYRINTH, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, THE WITCHES etc. I dropped out of the industry at the end of the 1980s. I am not up-to-date on the latest CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) methods, but I can answer questions about how most other effects are done; including monster makeup, puppetry, and horror effects. I have a good general knowledge of film effects techniques
Experience My Favourite movie that I have worked on is Little Shop of Horrors.
Question Do they use Pig blood in movies. Me and my friend has been questions it . i say they make ther own blood and she says they use Pig blood? Can u help?
Answer Hi Charity,
Movies usually use fake blood. There are dozens of recipies for it. here are just a few I found on the Internet. (I can't say how good or how safe they are):
--------------------------------
1 Pint Of Karo Light Corn Syrup
2 Tablespoons Of Red Food Coloring
10 Drops Of Green Food Coloring (Darkness Factor)
1 Tablespoon Of Vegetable Oil
--------------------------------
Karo Syrup (Light Corn Syrup)
Black-Cherry Kool-Aid (Powder)
Smooth Peanut Butter (check for allergic reaction)
--------------------------------
4 Parts Liquid Glucose
1 Part Water
Chinese Red Food Coloring
--------------------------------
2 Cups Ivory Liquid
1 Tsp. Red Food Coloring
1/2 Tsp Yellow Food Coloring
--------------------------------
24 oz bottle of generic maple syrup.
5 oz red food color
1 cap full yellow food coloring
½ tablespoon of hand soap
--------------------------------
24 oz chocolate syrup
5 oz red food color
--------------------------------
Washing it off is always difficult. Most fake bloods stain clothing and skin. Using a protective barrier cream first may prevent staing on the skin.
For all I know, there may have been some cheap movies made in which pig blood was used because it was cheaply available.
