Question
Hey,
I'm a MAC user and in addition to regular income as a doctor, run a business with a buddy buying houses, living in them while fixing them up and then selling them. We've done pretty well but our finances are always a mess. Which software package would be best for us, Quicken or Quickbooks, and are the online versions ok to use?

Answer
QuickBooks would give you the reports you need

Set up class tracking and every piece of property would be a
class. You would also set up  a class for Expenses related to business and one for personal expenses.  Or keep your personal expenses and business (doctor) in a separate QuickBooks or Quicken file.

Im not a big fan of the online edition.  I find it takes longer move around the file and the desktop version has alot more to offer. If your buddy needs to access QB you could leave your desktop computer running and use a remote access service such as logmein.com which for under $60 per year will allow you to give him access just to the QB file.   If this is not an option, the online edition would be fine.

Hope this helps,
