Subject: QuickBooks enterprise 7.0 price levels

Question
We filled the 100 slots but many entries are now obsolete.  When attempting to delete an entry it says we can't because someone has that price level still assigned, but it won't say who! How can we display what each client's price level is so we can clean these up?  No report we see even offers it as a field to display!

Answer
Hi Steve,

Sorry for the delay but this is a tricky write up.

There is not report within QuickBooks that displays this data, but with QB Enterprise you receive a QODBC driver which will allow you to extract data from the QB tables and run a report in Excel.

You may want to start this procedure towards the end of the day. First, set up a new folder on your desktop or somewhere you can easily find it again and call it Qodbc data

File menu > utilities > Configure Qodbc > Under the box Data Source Name, enter the name of your company (which helps identify it later)> Choose Test connection to QB and select always as an option and if appropriate choose the user level > click on the optimizer tab > Browse for the folder you just set up > Choose an option to update the Qodbc table ( the end of yesterday is a good choice) > click on Reload all data (expect this to take quite a while so go home and let the process run (updating the Qodbc table)

Open Excel > Data  menu >import external data >new database query > choose the database you just set up > (have your QB file open) > Choose the customer tables

Next click on the field  for customer name  & drag it to the  column heading section about 1/3 down> Next scroll to find PriceLevelRefFullName and drag the name field to the next column heading> From the file menu choose Return data to  excel

Hope this helps,
