Quicken & Other Budget/Accounting Software - exporting files from Quicken 2003

Expert: Linda Saltz, CPA, QBalance.com - 9/24/2008

Question
I am trying to amass information for past years for tax purposes. I need to export several files, from the Business Center - customer invoices & business bills (with all details included - customer, amount, date, what for). My software wants me to use MSN Money, which I don't understand. I'd just like to end up with all the information and transactions in an excel format, or a format that I could convert to excel. Can you help?
Thanks so much,

Answer
HI Kris,

Quicken 2003 is a bit older but there should be away to get a list of the transactions into an excel format.

In my version I would run the Itemized categories report for a
specific date range, expand all

Click on Print > choose Export to and select tab delimited file>
Save to your desktop and open the file with excel. When excel is asked to open a file that does not have an .xls extension it will open with a text import wizard, just click on finish and it should open in Excel.

Hope this helps,
