Question
Hello,

I have quickbooks 2012 from one office. However, my part-time office having quickbooks 2011. Can I convert the 2012 to 2011? Please advise.

Answer
Hi Justin

QuickBooks Data files are not backwards compatible.  You cannot open a 2012 data file in
a 2011 version of QuickBooks.   There is a data transfer utility sold by http://www.q2q.us
that will help you move all the lists and transactions from 2012 into a 2011 data file.
Its a terrific utility, I use it to merge data files and shrink large data files.

However for your situation, I believe your best bet is to purchase the 2014 QuickBooks edition for both offices so you can exchange data files. The 2011 QuickBooks is no longer supported by Intuit. And next year Intuit will retire the 2012 edition.
