Question I recently upgraded to 2004, when I do payroll, there are a couple of employees who get too much SS tax taken out. Just going to a blank paycheck (before entering hours) automatically takes out SS and Medicare.
This does not happened with my new employees hired this year.
I am using Quick Book 2004 Basic. I did check and compare the employees that are being calculated correctly with the ones that are incorrect in the payroll information and do not see any difference. Can you help?
Thanks.
Donna
Answer Hi Donna,
Fica and Medicare are automatic payroll items that are not unique to each employee.
Do you suppose that the latest update for PR tax tables had a bug in it? Have you tried to download another update?
From the employees menu, have you run a payroll checkup to see if that results in any errors?
Fica and Medicare will be deducted from wages (hourly & salary) and most payroll "addition" items. Did you check to see if there are any amounts included in the middle left window for additions and deductions to PR?
You may want to call QB do it yourself
800-624-2106 if you still have problems.
I would need to get access to your system to see if there could be another problem with the set-up, but I do charge for that service.
