Question I am trying to do a quilt called Irish Crosses. You cut 4 1/2" squares and then cut these squares in half to form triangles. Then you sew the triangles together at their sides, not the diagonals. The triangles will be sewn together with the first one upright, the second one upside down, the third upright, and so on. If I line the triangles up perfectly edge to edge and sew them, the points are cut off in the end product. Do I need to offset them when I sew them together? Is there a trick to this? Thank you very much for your time.
Answer I don't know how the points will be cut off? If you use 1/4" seams carefully it should work out. What many quilters do is to cut off the point on the seam of their piece. (Have you seen Thangles?) So, have you made one and found this to be a problem? I'd like to know more.
