Question
I am wondering if you know of a way to use a regular sewing machine to make a king quilt?  Is there a way to sew it in pieces? And how could I assemble it?  I don't like the looks of tied quilts and I don't want to hire someone to quilt it for me.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Yes, you can quilt it in sections.

Quilt up to within 1/2" of the edges of each section.

Sew sections together by turning under quilt top edges 1/4". Trim batting in each section to butt up against each other from one section to the other. Sew backing of sections together by turning under edges 1/4". Then continue quilting lines over the joined edges.
