Question
Is there some trick to getting the points to come exactly right do I stop the point at the 1/4" or before? and when I add the other two sides (as in flying geese) I don't over lap them right? I know these are probably not good questions but I lost my Grandmother before we could get into this I can do log cabin quilts with the best of them but I'd like to learn how to do other simple piecing to keep going and learning.
  Thank-you

Answer
HI PJ
the only bad question is the one not asked.

There are times when you stop making the seam at the 1/4 inch mark and others when you sew thru.

When making a star ehere the pieces meet in the center, you will not stitch the last 1/4 inch.

when making flying geese you stitch all the way

I think the following sites will help
