Question
I have an epson stylus cx4800 ink jet printer.  my question is due I need to treat my fabric with a solution like bubble jet set or is this the tpye of printer in which the ink is waterproof.  I enjoy making baby quilts and have been told that bubble jet set is not recommended for use on childrens items.  I have used pre treated fabric sheets but find them too stiff.

Answer
No inkjet printer has waterproof ink, so you will need to treat the material.  I don't think you would want to leave the quilt unwashed when you give it to a baby.  If you wash it after making it there should be no treatment left in the fabric.

You treat the fabric, let it dry then iron it on to freezer paper (plastic side on wrong side of fabric.  After you put it throught the printer then peel it off and use in quilt.

I used this procedure throughout the border on a charity quilt I assembled at my former employer.  If I can figure out how to put it here I'll do it so you can see.

A photo quilt can be a great project but in using it for babies bear in mind it will need frequent washing and that in time the photos will fade.
