Question I have three antique quilts - two from the late 1800's and one from the early 1900's. They have been appraised - two at approx. $1200 and one at approx. $800. I am going to be moving soon and would like to display these wonderful works of art. I know that I would need to keep them away from sunlight. Are there any other things I need to know when choosing how and where to display them? Also, will it affect the value of the quilts if I hand sew a sleeve to the back so it can be hung? Thanks in advance for any ideas you can give me. These quilts were found in my ex-MIL's attic tossed in a cardboard box with some mattress pads. Two of them are in near perfect condition and the third shows some signs of use. The quilting is impeccable - one is cross-hatched every 1/2 inch with amazingly tiny stitches.
Answer Hi again,
Glad to know that this was useful for you. You made a STELLAR trade with your ex-- good for you, both. As for displaying the quilts, should be do-able. Depends some on where you are. Where are you? You can e-mail me directly at quiltcomplex@hughes.net Thanks, Julie
