Expert: Connie Hester Date: 6/13/2008 Subject: printing on fabric
Question What is the best printer to use for printing onto fabric? I hate my HP PSC 1610. It doesn't grab fabric or specialty papers, causing waste. It also leaves lines in peoples faces. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer Any Epson which uses pigment-based ink, like their Durabrite and Ultrabrite inks, for example. Be sure to check, though, because not all Epson printers use pigment inks.
These inks are both naturally water-resistant and lightfast, but be sure to pre-wash the fabric to remove any invisible grime or finishes which could prevent bonding of the ink to the fabric.
