About Audrey Zohner
Expertise
I am an expert rag quilter. I have made over 100 rag quilts and would love to assist others with questions and methods. I don't know much about actual quilting like machine or hand quilting or applique. I am, however, the resident expert on rag quilting in my town. If you want to make a rag quilt, I am your woman.

Experience
I have been sewing for 12 years and rag quilting for 4. I have experienced just about every pitfall there is in rag quilting. Check out my quilts at audreysragquilts.etsy.com.

Question
I am making rag bags and was wondering how to make the strip for the closure(to go around the button)most people have a point at the end and I don't quite have it figured out could you explain how long that should be and how to get it to look right?

Answer
I haven't ever done this type of closure.  I sew a 2-3 inch strip and then attach Velcro to it.  The button is purely decorative.

However, if I ever tried this, I would sew two 3" strips together to form a 1.5 inch double sided strip, fold it in half and iron the point.  Put your strip ends together, find the middle, and fold the bottom edge out- this should form a point that will go around your button.   You can then sew it on at whatever length looks best.
