Question
Connie, I have some great Star War fabric and want to make it into a quilt for my grandson. The pictures on it are all different sizes so I want to cut them to make the center of a star block (12 1/2" square)  Is  there a formula to make the points come out sharply. (i.e. one pictue for the center will measure 7" by 4 1/2") One picture is 5 1/2" by 4; I just need a template or formula that makes each side look balanced.

Answer
You will have to draw your own varieties of stars within the 12" square, then use the center piece template as a pattern to "fussy cut" your particular fsbric motifs.

No formulas for creating 12" stars with varying sized center pieces.
