AboutAudrey Zohner Expertise I am an expert rag quilter. I have made over 100 rag quilts and would love to assist others with questions and methods. I don't know much about actual quilting like machine or hand quilting or applique. I am, however, the resident expert on rag quilting in my town. If you want to make a rag quilt, I am your woman.
Experience I have been sewing for 12 years and rag quilting for 4. I have experienced just about every pitfall there is in rag quilting. Check out my quilts at audreysragquilts.etsy.com.

Question Help!!! I a$ 95% almost finish making my very first ra quilt clipping the seams when I didn't realized I had clipped a piec of the fabric yikes!!! What can I do about the small rip in my pretty quilt I just made? I don't want to put anu apliques (sp) on it. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Answer Don't panic, I have done this plenty of times. However, I actually used an applique to cover it. I tried to zig-zag over the clip, but it looked horrible. So, I appliqued a small heart over it.
If the cut is close to the seam allowance, then you can zig-zag over it to close it and leave it. The raggy seams will cover it up. If it is too far away, then you will need to applique, zig-zag or patch it.
I've never done it, but it wouldn't be hard and it would look super cute. If you use a bit of fleece for the middle of the flower, you don't even have to worry about it fraying. Or you could use some flannel or cotton and actually clip it around the flower to make it raggy to match the quilt. Just an idea.
