Subject: History of Prairie Points
Question Do you know when and where prairie points originated? I've learned Darlene Zimmerman's "strip" method of making priaire points and just thought it would be interesting to know more about their history.
Answer Hi again,
I heard from one of my colleagues who said:
I believe they started as a trim on undergarments in the mid 1800's. I have an 1870 quilt with "prairie points". they reached their highest popularity around 1930's. But were not called prairie points until later 1960's. See Barbara Brackman's book, "Clues in the Calico".
Hope this helps, or that you can access the book.
Best,
Julie Slber
