Quilting/Short Strips

Short Strips
Short Strips
I have never done strips and now what to try it. I have only just done blocks. The picture shows how the strips are laid out. I think this is called "Hopscotch Quilt".
What size do I need to cut out to make each strip? How many strips do I cut out of 3 different prints? To have a FINISH 8" block with a 1/4" seam.  quilt 48 x 56. 8x6=48. 8x7=56.
Thank you for your help. B.

For a 48" x 56" quilt of 8" finished blocks, you would need 21 yds of 1.83" strips of each of 3 prints for 42 blocks. This includes 1/4" seam allowances. (I use an architecture rule marked off in tenths.)

For a 54" x 63" quilt of 9" finished blocks, you would need 23.33 yds of 2" strips of each of 3 prints for 42 bocks. This includes 1/4" seam allowances.

Hope this helps.
