Question Can I use Chenille in some of my blocks?? I am making a quilt for a baby with cotton on top and bottom and flannel in the middle. I would like to have a few squares in chenille. I have seen rag quilts using chenille online. Does this work well?
Answer Hi,
Chenille works like a dream!!!!! I love putting chenille into my quilts! You need to clip it about every 1/4 inch or so because it doesn't rag very well, though. The great thing is that the fuzzy layers on the chenille look like they've ragged, so the overall look is really cute.
Another thing you need to watch out for is the thickness of the chenille. Sewing one layer of chenille is like sewing two layers of flannel, so try to use it sparingly or get yourself some denim/jeans needles to sew it.
