Question
I'm trying to reproduce a whole cloth quilt that has flowers around the edges and in the center. How can I needle turn applique in the center of something this large. This is my first applique project.

Answer
Hi, Mary,
This is rather ambitious for a first project.

Fold the whole cloth in half vertically and horizontally, and press, to find the center. You may also want to fold on both diagonals, and press. This will help you to place flowers symmetrically around the center point.

To reach the center, in order to do the actual appliqueing, roll one of the 4 sides of the background cloth up to the first pieces to be appliqued. This will allow you to do the close work.

Libraries have many books which can help you with the process on how to actually applique the flowers - such as, how to plan the order in which you applique each piece of each flower.
