Question
My daughter is reading the story "Sarah, Plain and Tall" and needed to research quilting bees.  She needs to know if they still exhist today.  Could you please advise.  Thanks.
Jennifer and Dayna

Answer
Yes, Dayna and Jennifer, there are still quilting bees.  In fact, for the last few years quilters all over the country created blocks for breast cancer awareness.  Then on one Saturday quilters all over the USA gathered at their "Quilting Guilds" churches, clubs and even quilt stores to put the blocks together into quilts.

Here is an article about a "Quilt-a-thon" for Quilt for a Cure

There are hundreds of quilting groups from small gatherings of friends to large "Guilds" where quilters get together to make quilts, learn new ways to quilt and help each other finish quilts.

This is the guild I belong to http://www.quiltnorth.org/
You can see some of what we do together.

Sarah, Plain and Tall is one of my favorite books.  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you will try a quilt yourself!
