Question Hello, my company enforce a new policy where they do not employ smokers no more. by Nov 22nd we all need to be smoke free. i was wondering if you could tell me what is the test used to check if a person is a smoker, is it a blood test? also, how long does it takes until your body is clear of nicotine, and would living with a heavy smoker could effect test results? thank you for your time.
Answer Dear Ayelet,
I am not sure how they will check. There is a blood test for nicotine levels. If you have not smoked in 6 months, your level should be undetectable. Of course if you have significant exposure to second hand smoke, you will register some level of nicotine. Hopefully the company will take this into account, and hopefully they are helping people quit.
