Quitting Smoking - 7 weeks of smokefree life...but mild body pain

Expert: Dr. Gitanjali Sharma ( www.FamilyMarriageCounselling.com) - 2/24/2009

Question
Dear Mr.Sharma
I have been a smoker for almost 12 years (Almost 7-8 Cigarettes a day)and quit smoking cold Turkey 7 weeks ago and enjoying a smoke free life...
I have started feeling very mild pain in my legs and hands since I quit smoking.I am under the impression that this shall go with time as my body is getting used to more oxygen....But now its almost 7 weeks and the problem continues...Please advise

Answer
Dear Mr. Vijay,
That may not have anything to do with quiting smoking. because as you quit smoking rather your body feels rejuvenated.
It may be related to some other deficiency which can be related to your health/weight fat or number of reasons.   Do visit a local General Practice Doctor and he should be able to suggest you exercise or test if it related to any chemical imbalance due to any other issues. Rest assured you have increased your life by quitting and this issue is soomething else which can be looked up as ny other medical related issue.
I hope you do see physician locally.
