Expert: Michael Dean Date: 11/26/2007 Subject: Just Quit Smoking - Tickle In Lungs
Question I quit smoking about 2 months ago, and all of a sudden, I developed a chronic "tickle" in my chest/lungs. I don't have a cough or anything. Is this just the cilia growing back, and part of the healing process? It has been making me quite anxious. Thanks.
Answer Dear Erin,
That is great that you quit. Yes I believe the tickle is part of the healing process. You might try herbal teas, perhaps with lemon. You could also increase your exercise. Swimming is a great way to exercise the lungs and get moisture in there.
I wouldn't be anxious, and keep up the great work.
