Question
This is driving me crazy as I can't find the origin of "There but for the grace of God go I."
I'd appreciate a reply.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Dee
'but for the grace of god there goes John Bradford' -on seeing a group of criminals being led to their execution;usually quoted as -'there but for the grace of god go i'.
John Bradford 1510-55.
Hope this helps you. It is from the dictionary of national biography.
