About Nicholas Pemberton Expertise I have been an R.E.M. fan for at least 7 years now. I have all their LPs, over 30 singles, 7 videos, and 5 books, so I am sure that I can answer any question related to the music of REM itself. I also am sort of familiar with REM band bios, so I most likely can answer any question about a band member.
Experience I am very familiar with the work of R.E.M. I have read several books and articles about them. I also frequent the different music news sites to get up to date information on what they are working on. I have been an expert on expertcentral.com, and have successfully answered every question asked of me.
Organizations I am a member of the R.E.M. fanclub. I am also on a really good R.E.M. list group. I was also an expert on expertcentral.com.
Publications No where.
Education/Credentials Some college.
Awards and Honors American Legion Award in eighth grade, but that has nothing to do with R.E.M.

Question Hi. I am a professor of religious studies, teaching a course on Religion and Contemporary Culture. Besides being a big REM fan, a book I am using for the course (Virtual Faith: The Irreverent Spiritual Quest of Generation X, Tom Beaudoin), analyzes the Losing My Religion video in terms of religion and pop (in this case alternative) culture. Although like the rest of the world I know the song is not about religion, at least organized religion, I would like to show the video in class in conjunction with the book. The problem is I don`t have the video. Any ideas on how to get ahold of a copy of the video?
Thanks much.
Stephen Martin
Answer A copy of the "Losing My Religion" video is on the R.E.M. video compilation of videos called, "This Film Is On" (available now on VHS and DVD). "This Film Is On" contains all of the music videos for the R.E.M. CD "Out Of Time". If you are lucky, you may find it in a store that sells music videos, or you can do what I did and purchase a copy at CDNow. I also have seen copies available on EBay. I hope you have luck finding a copy of the video, it is beautiful.
Nicholas
PS In April of 1991, the "Losing My Religion" video was banned in Ireland because of its religious imagery.
