About Nicholas Pemberton Expertise I have been an R.E.M. fan for at least 7 years now. I have all their LPs, over 30 singles, 7 videos, and 5 books, so I am sure that I can answer any question related to the music of REM itself. I also am sort of familiar with REM band bios, so I most likely can answer any question about a band member.
Experience I am very familiar with the work of R.E.M. I have read several books and articles about them. I also frequent the different music news sites to get up to date information on what they are working on. I have been an expert on expertcentral.com, and have successfully answered every question asked of me.
Organizations I am a member of the R.E.M. fanclub. I am also on a really good R.E.M. list group. I was also an expert on expertcentral.com.
Publications No where.
Education/Credentials Some college.
Awards and Honors American Legion Award in eighth grade, but that has nothing to do with R.E.M.

Question Mr. Pemberton
At the sake of seeming a neusance, i must inform you that i am new to this website and have never asked any question regarding R.E.M., I rarely even go on the internet. My curiousity was sparked because my wife has been listening to the R.E.M. cd on repeat on that song for several days now. I find it a challenge to attempt to dicipher the meaning of certain songs. I have my own ideas as to the meaning, but they dont seem to jive with every line, only some. But then, all poetry is interpreted within the framework of the authors thinking. Your input or interpretation would be greatly appreciated.

Answer Sorry, as an "expert" I misunderstood the "repeat question" feature. Since the question you asked has been answered by me many times, I assumed that this would direct you to one of my previous answers to this question. I assumed wrong and I apologize.
As for "Losing My Religon", the title comes from a Southern phrase roughly meaning to give your all until you can not give anymore. Stipe wrote this song as a love story. The story goes that a person loves another so much, but the second does not love the first person. The first person does everything to tell the second that they like them, but to no avail. The first person feels that they have done everything for the second, even losing their religion. Stipe talks about this in their VH1 Storytellers which aired a few years ago and also in almost any R.E.M. book printed since 1992.
