About Nicholas Pemberton
Expertise
I have been an R.E.M. fan for at least 7 years now. I have all their LPs, over 30 singles, 7 videos, and 5 books, so I am sure that I can answer any question related to the music of REM itself. I also am sort of familiar with REM band bios, so I most likely can answer any question about a band member.

Experience
I am very familiar with the work of R.E.M. I have read several books and articles about them. I also frequent the different music news sites to get up to date information on what they are working on. I have been an expert on expertcentral.com, and have successfully answered every question asked of me.

Organizations
I am a member of the R.E.M. fanclub. I am also on a really good R.E.M. list group. I was also an expert on expertcentral.com.

Publications
No where.

Education/Credentials
Some college.

Awards and Honors
American Legion Award in eighth grade, but that has nothing to do with R.E.M.

Question
hi, I recently discovered R.E.M., and I am interested in buying a few of their albums, but I am still undecided about which one. I have a pretty good idea about which ones might be good, but I decided I should ask an R.E.M. expert.  If you could just tell me two or three of their best albums and a small list of about ten of their best songs, that would be greatly appreciated.
                  Thank you.

Answer
OK, here's three albums that I would go out and buy, "monster" (my favorite) which has such songs as "what's the frequency kenneth", "bang and blame", and "crush with eyeliner", the album "murmur" (their first) which has such songs as "radio free europe" and "talk about the passion", and also the album "out of time" which has the songs "losing my religion", "shiny happy people", and "radio song".
As for my ten favorite songs, they are (with the album they're off of):
1)  Crush With Eyeliner ("Monster")
2)  Leave ("New Adventures In HiFi")
3)  It's The End Of The World As We Know It ("Document")
4)  Sad Professor ("Up")
5)  Nightswimming ("Automatic For The People")
6)  Lotus ("Up")
7)  What's The Frequency Kenneth? ("Monster")
8)  Radio Free Europe ("Murmur")
9)  Circus Envy ("Monster")
10)  Auctioneer (Another Engine)  ("Fables Of The Reconstruction")

As you can see, my favorite songs are not necessarily the songs the radio stations play.  It's tough for me to pick out a few of their songs or albums because I own them all and like them all.  I hope you enjoy your adventure into the world of R.E.M.  Thanks.

Nicholas
