AboutKen Myers Expertise I can answer beginning, advanced and expert questions about electrically
powered R/C model aircraft, and many questions about R/C model aircraft of
all types, except helicopters. I`ve been building, flying and designing R/C
model aircraft for 40 years.
Experience I have been building and flying radio controlled model aircraft since 1960. I'm the president of the Electric Flyers Only, Inc., located in southeasten Michigan. I'm a past president of the National Electric Aircraft Council. I'm vice-president of the Midwest R/C Society. I was president and main founder of the UFO (Union Lake Flying Organization). I've built and flown most types of model aircraft except helicopters.
Question I have got a second hand engine and have no instruction manual. I hav esearched and cannot find an instruction manual. Specs are available. Do you have a web site I can try or is it possible to forward a instruction manual to me. I would appreciate it. Thanks & regards, Paul
Depending on where it came from, and where you live, it might have the carburetor that is being shown on some of the sites, but they used to have a Perry carburetor on them when sold in the USA. You might be able to find a manual for the Perry carb.
Either carb is pretty straight forward, but if I remember correctly, there are three adjustments on the Perry; high speed, low speed and air bleed.
If it has been run before, it should be pretty well set up, so all you have to do is try to start it like your other 2-stroke engines. It should be close enough to start, and then you can adjust the high speed needle. Once the high speed needle is adjusted, you can play with the low speed needle and air bleed to get the best idle.
If all else fails, you should check with your local RC flying club. They should have someone who can help you. In the USA, you can find local clubs by going to http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx
