ANSWER: HI Adam.
Sorry about delay, yes strimmer are great and you do not need a gearbox drive direct . if the strimmer has an automatic clutch so much the better.
engine would be better if water cooled.
write again if need be, PC only switched on 1-2 times a week. hope this is of help.

QUESTION: heya you said the engine would be better of it was water cooled, how exzacly would i do this?
would i need a raiator, would i need a fan and would i need a water pump?? i have no idea how to do this so can u explain on all detail avaliable please

ANSWER: HI ADAM.
YES water cooling is best the simplest but not the best method is to twist a length of soft copper tube round the cylinder head at the top pushing it hard into the gap between the fins, then connecting the flexible water tube up to this from the pick up scoop under the hull and behind the prop.
But the best method is to make a light ally jacket to fit over the fins of the engine.
Having first removed the top 3-4 fins. this is a machine shop project.

No pump required as prop will do it for you!!!

QUESTION: im not making a boat im making a car

Answer
Hi Adam.
Sorry about that i get so many people putting strimmer in boats i got carried away.
Yes this is still possible the strimmer when new is air cooled of course and you can still use the original cooling method !
The auto clutches will be essential so if you are actually to buy a new strimmer make sure you get one with a clutch!!! as not all have  this.

a reduction gear will also be good but you will have to make this or buy one from a model shop, there are 1/8 scale model car already on the market,
so find a dealer and take as many ideas from them as you can.
try surfing for more ides. Don't forget the brakes also which can also be controlled by r/c.
Martin
