Question
Hello,
I have built my own replica of
Kyosho's rare Casablanca Tunnel Hull,
42" x 20" / 9 lbs with outboard and guts,
K&B 90 ( idle 2000 rpm / open thr, 22.000 rpm )
I want to swap it for a weedwacker engine
my question is,,,
can I go 1/1 ratio , or should I gear up or down
on the prop, + what size prop ?
Thnx,

Don't leave well enough alone !
Make it bigger, louder & faster !

Answer
Hi Yves.
This would be quite a change --outboard to inboard ? The 2 engines are obviously quite different in performance and size and assuming that the boat performed well with the KB engine the transformation will i feel be disappointing.
Also the size of the WW engine will put it high up above the deck level !!!
Should you be able to fit the WW in the hull then i would make the drive  1/1 ratio as to the prop size this can only be found by experimentation. but would probably be in the Reagan of 2-2.5 inches but this is only a guess at this. Do you intend to go surface with a flex shaft ?
Personally why would you wont to change in the first place as the KB is a much better setup i would have thought.
Did you have problems with this arrangement ??
Martin
