Subject: Wing Incidence

Question
I'm working on building a bi-plane.  The instructions provide a dimension for the wing incidence.  They also reference using a "J" inch measurement for setting the wing incidence.  I've never heard of a "J" inch.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Paul,

Wow, you've got me on this one.  I've never heard of a "J" inch.  The only thing I can think of is that "J" might be referencing something, a measurement, shown on the plan.  I also don't understand why they are referencing inches.  Incidence is measured in degrees, and the top wing will usually have slightly more incidence than the bottom wing on a biplane.

Good luck with your plane,
Ken
