Question
I just got a Yak with a .46 size engine and when i start it it runs good, but when i hold the plane up the engine stops. What do i need to do about tunning the engine and this problem?. Thanks

Answer
Stephen,
Is this your first plane? Have you had any previous glow engine experience? It sounds like your high speed mixture is set too lean. Simply richen up (turn high speed needle counter clockwise) a couple of turns and then hold the plane's nose up. Then turn the needle clockwise until the engine starts to sag and then back off the high speed needle valve until it runs without sagging.

Take care,
Clarence C. Ragland
