Subject: crystals in receiver

Question
In a radio controlled car receiver, specifically a Futaba Digital Proportion  4 channel micro ,75 megahertz receiver, can I replace the crystal in the receiver with a different size than is in the transmitter.

Answer
Hi Brenda,

I'm sorry, I am unclear of what you are asking me.  You can purchase Futaba crystal sets which contain a transmitter crystal and a receiver crystal that are set up to operate on the same frequency in the 75MHz band.  For the radio to operate, they need to be matched.

If you are asking about physical size, as far as I know, all the Futaba receiver crystals are the same physical size.  I could be wrong, since I've not used Futaba radio equipment in a long time.  I do know there are other brands that do have crystals of different physical size to fit specific radio systems.

Tower Hobbies, http://www.towerhobbies.com, carries Futaba crystals.  Just do a search on their site and you should find what you are looking for.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions, as I said, I'm not sure what you are specifically asking.

Sincerely,
Ken
